Our walks this spring have already discovered plenty of returning migrants. The Yellow Wagtail is always a delight to watch at close quarters. They have a high pitched call which very often helps you pick them up in flight before landing (often in fields or on a wetland edge).
On Sunday we discovered a Channel Wagtail, one of at least four in the midlands. So keep your eyes out as you may just see one of these rarer types.
